Hillsborough County remains the "Ground Zero" for PFAS awareness in New Hampshire. Following the final demolition of the Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics facility in late 2025, the focus has shifted to the massive secondary plume affecting the Merrimack Valley.
Recent May 2026 data shows that raw water PFOA levels in the Merrimack Village District (MVD) system continue to fluctuate, with many private wells in Litchfield (15.5 ppt), Bedford (6.2 ppt), and Hudson (9.4 ppt) significantly exceeding the federal 4.0 ppt safety limit. While some areas have been connected to municipal lines, thousands of properties in Amherst, Goffstown, and New Boston remain reliant on private wells that are now testing positive for "Forever Chemicals" for the first time due to plume migration.

Most notably, groundwater monitoring near the Coakley Landfill has revealed concentrations at seep locations exceeding 2,000 ppt, creating complex plume migration concerns for residents in North Hampton and Greenland.
Hillsborough County residents are currently navigating the most complex regulatory environment in the state.
The NHDES has announced a fiscal year processing pause effective June 10, 2026. Because Hillsborough County has the highest volume of rebate applications in the state, homeowners in Nashua, Manchester, and Pelham must submit their certified lab results immediately to secure their $5,000 rebate before funding is reallocated for the new fiscal cycle.
At A & B Water Consultants, we understand that Rockingham County water chemistry is unique. Our engineering team specializes in two high-risk zones that our competitors often overlook:
The Saint-Gobain Legacy: We are the leading experts in treating the high-concentration PFOA plumes linked to the Merrimack textile coating operations. If your property is within the Revised Groundwater Management Zone (GMZ), we help you determine if you are eligible for a Saint-Gobain-funded system or if you should utilize the $5,000 NHDES state rebate.
Nashua & Hudson Industrial Remediation:The industrial corridor along the Merrimack River requires more than standard carbon filtration. We engineer "High-Loading" systems for homes near the Nashua/Hudson border where multiple PFAS types—often linked to historical manufacturing—intersect in the shallow aquifer.

We have spent years in the basements of Merrimack Valley homes, solving the specific water quality challenges of Southern NH. From the high-volume wells of Bedford to the complex bedrock chemistry of Antrim and Hancock, we provide the technical precision required for the state's most contaminated county.
Target Townships: Merrimack, Litchfield, Bedford, Nashua, Hudson, Manchester, Amherst, Goffstown, Pelham, Londonderry.
Primary Contaminants: PFOA, PFOS, and PFHxS (Industrial and Fabric-Coating related).
Rebate Eligibility: IMMEDIATE for all Hillsborough wells exceeding 4.0 ppt.
One call and you’ll be on your way to clean water and healthy air!
